What foods are appropriate to eat before and after a workout it’s not a silly matter. It affects the performance of our exercises.
During aerobic exercise, such as swimming, jogging and biking our body uses carbohydrates as fuel. But when duration increases, our body begins to burn fat. On the other hand during anaerobic exercise or short-term, high-intensity activities glycogen (complex formed carbohydrates) are used as fuel source. This type of repetitive, vigorous activity can burn most of the carbohydrate of our muscles.
We need to eat small and easily digested meal consists of complex carbohydrates before 30 or 60 minutes of exercise. And try to avoid simple sugar like candy it can lead to low sugar level during exercise. But can have it when we have no more options. Another thing is drinking enough water before one or two hours of working out. Because its essential for optimal physical performance, resistance to injury, and maintenance of normal body temperature.
Right after workout have small snacks to recover glycogen level of muscle. After one hour of exercising eat heavy meal that should be combination of lean protein and complex carbohydrates. Don’t forget to drink enough water. First measure weight after workout and then drink two cups water for every pound of weight loss.
